Weird Caprice listings - SCA auction - Savannah, GA
Hey folks,
Just thought I'd highlight a series of cars here as sort of a mystery. I recently added SCA Auction as an option on the Caprice for sale listings, they specialize in wrecked & salvage cars. Well, on their page I ran across eight white 2013 Caprice's for sale, L77's, all with at or under 20K miles, all side by side in Savannah, GA. No damage on the pics, damage listing was annotated as "unknown". These cars are for a future sale, but these listings might bear watching as it reeks of "we're dumping our Caprices!" from an unknown agency. But at a salvage auction? The ONLY thing I could construct as a scenario would be if a police department had a bunch of cars in their lot flooded out - but it doesn't say flood.
Anyway, something to look at.
Thanks
Eric

Very strange! No interior pics...all low miles...no visible damage.
How could they possibly blow up 8 low mileage Caprices?
Surely they would say flood, like you said. Would seem wrong not to.

Maybe high idle hours? Or they aged out?

Possibly...
Could be smokin deals on some low mileage cars.

Could be they were a test purchase to see if officers liked them - they didn’t - so they became pool/loaner cars for the agency.
Could be they only patrolled a small area so the miles are low, but the hours will be sky high.

High idle hours at under 20K miles? These may have been take-home staff cars for a pool perhaps. I really don't know how to read the tea leaves on these cars, it's like 2+2=8 13/32 with this one..... We don't even know the agency they're from or we could call them and find out what the skinny was. Wonder if the auction company would be nice enough to pass that info along if we asked politely...
But I agree with the aging out idea. 10 model years old, yep, move 'em out!

All except one still have light bars on them so ???
Another possibility that I just thought of, and which I have seen before, is old patrol cars are used for training. In that case, they are abused like you wouldn't believe.

Savannah Georga used Caprice as their patrol cars. I think you might be right these are flood cars, or they were the port of savannah cars which would have ridiculous idle hours on them.

Savannah had some bad flooding in August, so that seems to makes sense. They should be posted as flood cars IMO.

FYI,
At least one of them has a US Government "G 10" front license plate... Federal cars?
