9c3 caprice
I just totaled my 9c3 this evening thanks to an idiot cutting through a traffic lane in a Ford f350 dually. He drove into the left front of my car and spun the right rear into a telephone pole. I thank my lord and savior Jesus Christ that I wasn't driving my Z06 or I wouldn't be here writing this. My car was a black 2011 with 60K miles and no mods that was never put in service. I am the second owner and I would like to find another car similar to this. I realize I am looking for the impossible but I feel the chances of finding another are better here than anywhere else. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gary.
BTW, I am seldom on this forum but I will try to check in two or three times a week.

Re: 9c3 caprice
Oh no! Terrible news about the car but it did protect you and we're all really glad you are OK. There are low mile cars out there in the wild... at a price... but you're correct in that it may be hard to locate one now. I was (as were numerous other members here) lucky enough to purchase a car never in service off a dealership floor, but those days are now gone.
One thing you might consider is seeing what the insurance company wants for the totaled wreck after you work whatever you will with them. There is value in low mile parts that may be undamaged, and you may want things for your next car if you stay in that 11-13 window. Somehow I do get the feeling that any insurance carrier may try to lowball on the total amount they may try to offer just because of the nature of the car combined with age. IF that happens don't be afraid to lawyer up & fight!
Keep us posted, and again this could have been much worse if you had been seriously injured. On Friday the 13th no less!

And the 9C3 are even rarer so that increases value. Definitely haggle with them on the total payout and what they would deduct if you were to keep it. As mentioned, you could keep the interior parts for the next one if a 2011-13 or resell them. There's a lot of money in all the parts.

Re: 9c3 caprice
Sorry to hear! Glad to hear that the Caprice protected you though.
I fear mine getting totaled and getting slaughtered by a lowball insurance off. My 2013 has 19k miles, but was in service. Curious to know what they end up settling for on yours.
There are a few low milers on Ebay right now, for $18-20k of course.

Re: 9c3 caprice
Thanks for all the replies!! It appears the major problem is proving the car's value to the insurance company. i estimate the value at $20K to $25K based on the condition, the low miles, two owners, and the fact that it was never put into service. I have searched for hours looking for recent (within the past three years) sales but found none. My next best option is to use recent listings for the 9c1 in similar condition and low miles ($25K to $30K) to prove my case. Only after I am able to settle on a suitable value (payoff) will I then try to come to an agreeable price on my car. I have some leverage in the fact I am not using a rental vehicle, my tow guy picked the wreck up at no charge, and I am storing it on my secure lot at no charge to the insurance company. I have some minor injuries but i have one knee that sustained major damage and I hope that I can make a full recovery. Right now I am limited as to what I can do in the shop (auto repair business) and i will find out next week from the doctor what to expect long term. My 75th b-day is coming in two days and I fully expect to work at least another five years. One other thing, I would like to hear opinions on what to swap the drivetrain into should I buy the car back. Once again, many thanks to everyone.

Re: 9c3 caprice
It's going to be really hard to find a comp for a low mile 9C3 let alone one that was never in service. What a rare car! Too bad it was totaled…post some pics when you can.
I would think $20k is bare minimum realistically, but I think insurance is going to fight hard on that.
Good luck with the knee!

Re: 9c3 caprice
grab links and pics to all the high priced caprices you can find with similar or lower miles , and submit them to your ins agent to turn into the compnay
also make sure to wait them out , its a bit of a battle , on my wifes old cavalier , we managed to get the ins co to up their payout , from 4k to 10k and we kept the car

Re: 9c3 caprice
Well remember something here, if you were injured in the accident there's personal injury attorneys that make bread & butter on claims like yours, especially with potential ife-altering injury, in a collectors car, and you being NOT at fault. The car valuation would be excellent to toss into the overall mix especially if you have alternate transportation and can play the waiting game. When you're talking 6 or 7 figure damages the value of the wreck buyback becomes chump change at that point. And by the way we also want the wreck back, thank you very much.
If they don't offer you everything you want at a fair & equitable payout you can live with, a fair deal on the wreck plus cover your ongoing medical without hassle, you hire up Whiplash Levine and screw them to the wall. Sooner you get counsel on the books the better position you're in.

Re: 9c3 caprice
Yesterday I received good news of sorts- doc says i should make a full recovery but it will take months. He did give me a letter stating no work for two weeks, half days for two weeks, and after that back to full time. Still have some chest and neck pain so hard to say what will come of that. I haven't seen an adjuster yet so that is still up in the air. I did find another black no hole no mod 9c3 (southern car) with 146K miles and paint problems. Since it is a 2011 it's hard to say how many hours are on it. And also a 2012 with 76K miles and reasonably close in condition to my car. I found a dealer who said he would keep an eye out for a 9c3 (he's had one come through in the past year) and notify me if anything shows up. As far as transportation goes I have two F150's and an M1008 military truck so I'm good to go. Considering the whole situation I am just thankful to be here. As a side note, a close friend t-boned his Jeep into the side of another idiot that pulled out of a driveway directly in front of him (no injuries). All this on the same stretch of road about a mile from where I crashed my car! The (distracted by phone) drivers are definitely getting worse.
