Deal on a tweaked State of NC Caprice

Post by elc32955 »

Hey all,

I had thought about bidding on this car but I'm not in a good position to do so currently - too much going on down here. This is a 2015 Caprice with a 3.6 LFX out of the State of NC, 102K miles. Car was tweaked on the front nose, hood was buckled slightly and the grille will need to be replaced. Maybe some very slight buckling on the front fenders from the pics, but if it's there it's barely noticeable. No idea on any undercarriage, radiator/motor or frame damage, I suspect not as the front bumper cover looks fine. The car was "totaled" by the State's insurance carrier over the hit, but due to a combination of age & miles generally it wouldn't take much to accomplish this. No idea what the title will look like out of the auction. Here's the linky;

This is exactly the same as my current car and it's been an outstanding Point A to Point B car for my wife. Right now it's at $1,725 with 6 days to go. Only reason I'm posting this is that State of NC has really good cars as far as Caprices, they're not run too awfully hard as basically staff & transport cars - the state cars don't even have branded titles! Since it's been popped a lot folks won't mess with it, but it's not beyond the capability of folks here to fix it & drive it down the road.

Anyway, there it is for what it's worth. Enjoy!

Hmmm, well glass is expensive unless you can get one out of a wreck. Guess that tears it then. They may have had to dig a bit if the hood was pushed back to get it open, could have been a FD trying to disable the battery at the crash scene, lol. Then finding out it was in the back :o :o :o Saw the way the back hood corners were bent up. It'd be a good parts mule for a V6 platform for sure though!

No bends above the windshield that I can see. It's in VIN sequence with my car, they probably got a block production lot of cars for their fleet order. My car's build probably applies to all they received for that model year. I've got my window sticker - was folded in the glove compartment when I got the car. If it's just body damage, there's a completely good powertrain & electronics suite sitting there. Body parts, 11-17 pretty much fits all :)

Looking at your window sticker I think it is interesting to see the engine from Canada, transmission from France, parts from US, assembled in Australia, then shipped over here to the US. You would think the cost to be shipping car parts all over the world would be cost prohibitive.

all depends on how fast it was going when the hood popped open , also coulda been the garage monkeys jumping up and down pushing the hood past its normal opening points , lol
