Tool arrived and I got to work. Got the car into TPMS relearn mode, held the tool to the front left tire by the stem and…… nothing. Tried all the other tires and nothing again.

Exited learn mode and got beck in, and again total failure. Guess we’re going to have to drag the car to the dealer for more discovery.

Maybe try that tool on another car just to make sure it's working correctly. I think that tool is supposed to chirp or beep when it hears from a sensor. While it's certainly possible that all 4 of your sensors are dead, I'd still want to check that tool. You can go try it in a parking lot. Triggering sensors on parked cars is harmless.

We have a 2018 PPV Tahoe I guess I can try. Gonna have to go get the battery out of my toner tool.

Back after my little 'time out' (internet access went down and ATT determined it was my modem, so they sent me another, even though 100% of all service interruptions to date have been line cuts. Turned out to be a line cut. ), and the forum's 'time out', I'm back. Went out and stuck the tool close to all the tires on the Tahoe, and.... nothing. I didn't try to go into relearn mode on the Tahoe, so may try that. Otherwise, I have a dud tool!!

You have to put it in relearn mode for it to work. The tool may be activating the sensors but that won't do anything unless it's in relearn mode.

One possible down side of doing this, is if the tool is a dud, he just erased all the sensors on his car or truck without having a way to relearn them. If he's working on a vehicle that needs a total relearn, then it's no harm done, but if he does it on the Tahoe it might just be a mistake.

I've never seen a TPMS tool that didn't offer some kind of feedback then a sensors gets triggered successfully, but I have to admit I haven't fooled with the consumer-oriented ones. Is that how they normally work?

That particular tool doesn't give any feedback. It transmits only.

If the tool doesn't work, there's always the letting out air method. It's more of a PITA but works.

So you set the car in 'learn mode' and starting with front left, let air out until the horn honks? Just wanting to make sure, as I've never had to do this. I'm really a Luddite and really see little use for these 'cheese-wiz' techy things, so don't really mess with it much.
