2014 Caprice Check engine light/Service power steering/stabi

Had this happen twice, once when I bought the car, the service power steering warning came up on the display, the engine rpm and speedometer stopped working, check engine light on, service stabilitrak etc. I believe the scan tool showed that the car had lost communication with various modules. After clearing the code, I drove the car on and off since last august, today I had the same thing happen, but additionally the car seemed to go into limp mode, slowly getting up to speed and not shifting. I dont know if its a loose ground wire or what, wondering if anyone has had similar issues. (I believe the rack was replaced at some point)

Have you had the steering rack replaced in the recall?

I’m pretty sure it was replaced already a buddy of mine looked it up through the GM history, I’ll ave to double check

Low battery.

Buy a smart charger and charge the battery.

Did you have that problem, I have a dual battery car, and I was driving the car for an hour so I can’t see it being the battery unless there’s a big draw I don’t know about

Or a failing battery. Get it load-checked.

Car isn’t capable of fully charging the battery. Good job GM. Have to use a charger to do that. I’ve had a few of these caprices and like other gm cars when a battery or alternator is low it screws up lots of things. That’s where I’d start.

If you really have a 2014, then you have electric steering.
