Wow, it's been a minute since I've updated this! The shoulder R&R went well. I'm almost 2 years from the surgery, and that shoulder is better than it has been in decades! Now, though, we're monitoring the wear on the other side. Luckily, it seems to be wearing slower than the right, so hopefully I can put that replacement off a couple more years.

In another thread, I noted that the headliner has dropped in the car, and started to curl away from the front and back glass. It seemed to all happen over the course of a couple of months, even though the car stays in the garage most of the time. While a new headliner still appears to be available, it IS more than $1100!! I have yet found a good upholstery shop that can do the headliner replacement, so have zero clue how much they'll want for that job.

Since it's just the 2 of us, and sometimes our 4 pups in the car, I figured I'd at least get the material out of the car, and off our heads. Yesterday, I pulled the headliner material off the OEM backing sheet. The only thing I had to remove to do this task was the ticket light. Replacing that, though was quite the PITA and took longer to complete than pulling the material and vacuuming the debris that fell to the floor. The light is held in with a bar of aluminum and two screws. The screws were secured by nuts. I have NO idea how I did the original install, and could not get the dam overhead console out. So, I opted to tap the aluminum bar and just use the screws I had. I missed the dimension by about 1/8", so had to repeat the chore again, and finally got something that would work.

All's back together now. The ceiling of the car looks like a$$, but I'm okay with that, for now, at least. We'll see how it weighs on me as I use the car. Maybe I'll find someone good in the area who will do the headliner R&R. I still have the fabric so I have a good sample, and will put it in the spares containers.

My headliner has recently done the same drop...back and front edges and around the oh shit handles in the back. I bought some headliner adhesive spray to TRY to fix it temporarily...we'll see. When I eventually get my car painted I'll pull the headliner and get it re-done correctly.

I have many other projects, including some on this car, that are priority over headliner. I've driven the car a couple of times since removing the headliner, and, frankly, It's out of sight, out of mind, to me.

I could have probably even pulled the material out from behind the ticket light, but it didn't look so at first. I did pull the JC handles and the sun visors, but they could have stayed on the car, too if I wanted to cut the material, which, at the time, I didn't want to do. When the headliner falls, though, it looks like one can pull it all without having to take any of the plastic bits down.

Ordered GM P/N 92292578 radio knob to replace the OEM volume knob that broke on me. Fit is perfect! Ordered another for spares for when the tuning knob shatters. ;)
