Discussion on body issues/mods, appearance, interior/trim, and detailing (i.e. how to keep your car looking showroom new, or a reasonable facsimile thereof...).

addition of lower front fascia grille

Post by Navy Lifer »

While the front fascia was off for fog lamp installation (no, it's not necessary, but it was easier), I added--with Scott Williams' most able assistance--a grille in the lower cooling air opening in the fascia. The part is from the Holden Commodore (VEII) SS-V. Holden PN 92231807, from C.P. It is NOT "direct fit", but has the same (almost) pattern as the upper grille, and a bit of trimming away of the part was necessary to fit it. Scott's air-powered hacksaw made quick work of that. This is not something that can be installed from the front of the opening--it really will work best as we did it, with the fascia removed, and the part captured on the inner side of the fascia--it's secured with 4 self-threading screws.

I've got a full series of photos that help show how the part is installed, how it had to be trimmed, etc - if you want to know more, I'll be happy to e-mail you the photos directly. Maybe later there'll be a chance to actually put together an install procedure.

I agree. That gives the car a much more finished look.

Concur. Either put an intercooler in the gaposis or fill it with the grille like you did. Very good mod.

As mentioned in another thread (overhead console with map lights), a consolidated shipment is being prepared that will be coming to Georgia. CP is going to be able to ship a couple (2) of these grille inserts, partially trimmed for space and weight saving--so please express your interest if you want one, either here (to me) or directly to CP.

Unless you want to finish trimming the part yourself, I can trim the part before it ships on to the buyer(s) to the same shape as the grille on my car was done. Part cost is in the $50 range, plus whatever shipping Scott Walker determines for getting it from Australia to you (paid separately). Overall, the cost will still be less than if you have CP ship the part directly to you.

Bob's always-amusing wisecracks aside, the book is about to close on the offer to ship 2 of these grille panels stateside at significant savings over the normal cost for delivery of parts from C.P.

If no one speaks up, we may just leave these out of the bigger shipment. Again, the part is about $50, and you should contact C.P. directly to pay for it.

Shipping cost will be worked out with Scott Walker--and it will be very reasonable.

Last chance!

further update--one of two lower grille panels is spoken for, so I'll cover bringing the other one in and someone may eventually want it--or I'll do something creative with it...!

In the meantime, if anyone wants the other one available in the upcoming shipment, just let me know!
