Motor Noise

Post by bockscar »

I’m hoping this video shows up. I seem to have developed some sort of noise, seems top end that appears to start after the motor has warmed up. Doesn’t seem to do it right when it starts up. I’ve also developed an oil leak that I can’t quite figure out. Seems to leak from 4 different spots, but be leaking from elsewhere and pooling. I’ve attached a couple pics of where it drips after I wipe everything down.

That noise is terrible, ha. My 6.0 sounded very similar when it lost top end oil pressure and wiped the cam, lifters, rockers and valves.
I would start by pulling the accessory and a/c belts and run it for a moment, if the noise is gone its a pulley of some sort. If the noise is still there, pull the valve covers and inspect. Don't run it for very long without a belt, it wont have a water pump.

The oil leak can really only be a few things, oil pan, oil cooler, valve cover.
