G8 rear seats & trim transplant to 2014 PPV?

Discussion on body issues/mods, appearance, interior/trim, and detailing (i.e. how to keep your car looking showroom new, or a reasonable facsimile thereof...).

G8 rear seats & trim transplant to 2014 PPV?

Post by markf1971 »

I've read that the rear G8 seats will bolt right in to my 2014 PPV, but the trim pieces at each end appear to need some cutting to fit my PPV. The car had the 'perp' seats when I got it. Any advice or helpful hints about what to do with the trim pieces on each end of the upright portion of the rear seats would be greatly appreciated!

THANKS!

What trim pieces are you referring to? The G8 seats are 100% bolt in, plug & play. Have a set in my 2015.

The left side is part number 92172488. GM calls it a "lock pillar trim". There is one for sale on eBay described as "Left Rear C Pillar Panel Trim Cover". Evidently the trim pieces om both C pillar were removed along with the OEM PPV seats, so that the 'perp' rear seat could be installed.

The piece from the G8 is too long and doesn't match up with the trim piece on my PPV that covers where the shoulder belt feeds out.

Hi Markf1971,
The part number you have listed (92172488) is for the G8. The correct part numbers are 92233193 (RS) and 92233195 (LS) for the 11-13 Caprices and 92264459 (RS) and 92264460 (LS) for the 14-17 Caprices. Although the part numbers are shown to be different between the two year groups, I think the parts are identical for all the years. I have a good used set available for $100 plus shipping if you are interested.

Hello, just wanted to confirm that part numbers 92233193 (RS) and 92233195 (LS) for the 11-13 Caprices will in fact fit the 2014-2017. There are tons of 92264460 available currently but can't find a single 92264459 and would use 92233193 if I knew I could make it work. I've got G8 seats going in soon and would like to have it trimmed properly. Thanks

If you can't find the proper trim pieces new, you may be forced into a trip to the friendly salvage yards unfortunately. Both my cars had the correct trim pieces as neither car ever had the plastic perp seats installed, so it was 100% plug & play for me. s/c'd cav might have a better idea on availability for those p/n's, but we're experiencing more and more NLA problems out of GM parts inventory. Which will only get worse over time.
