Yep,
I've read all of that. Put the fitting in the case. Just couldn't get the right angle to get the dip stick tube into the case seal. Next trick will be to loosen the passenger side motor mount and rock the engine up. Next week I will try again.

Re: anyone seen this dipstick?
No, nothing yet. My work situation has changed so that I can't take the risk of not having the car ready to roll out the garage on Monday morning. I was thinking about trying the dipstick next time I'm under the car (changing oil or installing the exhaust), but since it seems that everything I do on this car takes 2X-4X longer than everyone else says it took, I'm hesitant to start too many projects on the car at once.smwalker wrote:Gene anything to report? Re: anyone seen this dipstick?
Wow 4 hours later i finally got this puppy in.... WHat a PIA with the wiring harness in the way etc. I ended up needing to remove the #8 plug wire as well as dropping the trans cross member bolts and center brace so the trans would hang down and inch or so. Then i used a piece of 2x4 wood to shove the trans over towards the driver's side and it finally was possible to force the tube into the case...

Re: anyone seen this dipstick?
I wish I had seen this post before buying the same dipstick tube. I wrested with it for several hour last night and again this AM. I also considered dropping the crossmember. What a PITA. To add insult to injury, I specifically asked the seller whether it would fit a Caprice and if there were any issues with installing it or not. Their reply, in full was “Yes”. I guess their answer was correct. There were no instructions provided. Only a photo from the engine compartment of it installed. I probably would have bought it anyway, even if they had disclosed that the crossmember would need to be dropped. I could have already done that on the time I wasted trying to force it in. What poor customer service by this seller.

'Yes', it does fit on a Caprice, and,
'Yes', there are issues installing it.
Sadly, at least you got a response. I usually get ghosted when asking specific questions about parts I'm looking at online....
Heh, I STILL haven't installed mine. With retirement, has come many other projects!!
