I know of maybe one V6 that was brought used from the US to Canada and possibly another V8 that I once saw on FB Marketplace Canada however the seller never replied to my inquiries so it may have been in the US awaiting import.
I've used a few different sources to get my info, mostly VIN decoder sites. The VIN's that I've attributed as Canadian cars are the only cars that have 2 particular RPO codes. Those codes are "V8E - Vehicle statement Canada" and "Z49 - Country Canada, Mandatory Canadian base equipment modifications (Canadian)". Also, these 16 VIN's are the only VIN's that do not have the "EF7 - Country United states of America (USA)" code.
ZKB401 wrote: Mon May 01, 2023 8:08 am Perhaps the MY12.5 PPV's were given 6G3 VIN's. Not sure why there would have been a change, but that would explain the existence of all those MY12.5 numbers.
This is not the case but I have looked around at PPV's for sale and discovered that your MY12.5 Caprices used sequence numbers beginning with an "8". Our Australian MY12.5 cars, including our Caprices used sequence numbers beginning with a "7". That was just a curve ball that threw me somewhat - always learning :).

Through some info I was able to obtain from a friend who has access to the GM system, I was able to get this info on the three known Canadian ones:

6G1MK5T25BL564035: Mine

6G1MK5E20BL564036: Was initially at a dealer in Welland, ON Canada, sat there for a year and then sent to a dealer in Michigan where it had 238 km on the odometer. It was bounced around several dealers in the US after that. Current whereabouts unknown.

6G1MK5E22BL564037: Was sent to a GM Technical facility in Ontario, Canada. Has not resurfaced since. Maybe it was used as a test bed for the upfitter?

I'll try and ask my friend if he can search for the other "supposed" Canadian VINs without imposing too much on him. I wouldn't want him getting in trouble for this.

I think it would be a fair assumption that, at the time of their production, those 16 Caprices in question were intended for the Canadian market. I wouldn't make any assumptions beyond that and can't argue that they actually did make it to Canada. Certainly there is doubt and your evidence/research Mooseman, backs up that doubt. There was a very long time lag from the production of those cars to their presence on North American roads so any number of changes to their final delivery point could have been made.

All I can find on those VIN's is that 6G1MK5T24BL564043 found its way to Savannah GA and was auctioned as a damaged vehicle around 2015.

And here is the OFFICIAL skinny on all the Canadian PPV's. You'll notice a common pattern here. Dates indicated are last time any dealer saw it so may still be out there with the current owner never bringing it into a dealer.

6G1MK5E27BL516551: Shipped to Penske in Oshawa, placed in service in MI, then went to MI, AL and then FL. 07/2018

6G1MK5T29BL541695: Shipped to Victoria BC, placed into service in WA, 04/2015

6G1MK5E23BL564032: Shipped to Welland ON, placed into service in MI, GA. 02/2018

6G1MK5E25BL564033: Shipped to Welland ON, placed into service in MI, TX. 05/2015

6G1MK5T23BL564034: Shipped to Sturgeon Falls, ON, put into service in MI, GA 05/2015

6G1MK5T25BL564035: Shipped to Ottawa ON, put into service by the RCMP as a test vehicle until sold at Gov't auction in 2017. Still in service by the same owner (me)

6G1MK5E20BL564036: Shipped to Welland ON, shipped to MI a year later.

6G1MK5E22BL564037: Shipped to GM Technical facility in ON, never seen again

6G1MK5T20BL564038: Shipped to Edmonton, AB, put into service in WA, CA 09/2016

6G1MK5E26BL564039: Shipped to Edmonton, AB, put into service in WA, CA 07/2017

6G1MK5E22BL564040: Shipped to Edmonton, AB, put into service in WA, CA 03/2013

6G1MK5T20BL564041: Shipped to Calgary, AB, put into service in WA, 05/2016

6G1MK5T22BL564042: Shipped to Oshawa then BC, put into service in WA 30/2015

6G1MK5T24BL564043: Shipped to Oshawa, put into service in MI, GA 30/2015

6G1MK5T28BL575109: (production date 30/09/2011), Shipped to and put into service in Caledonia, ON, then Toronto 04/2019 *

6G1MK5R37CL601216: Shipped to Oshawa, put into service in CA 11/13

* This one we would assume was the one that went to Six Nations Police which is near Caledonia. It was probably then sold to someone in Toronto. It may still be out there after the last dealer contact in 2019. I have ordered a used vehicle information package, which is normally required when buying or selling a used vehicle in Ontario, to see if it's still registered.

ZKB401 wrote: Sun Apr 30, 2023 10:06 pm Hi there PPV owners.

I am in Australia so am obviously not a PPV owner. I do own a 1990 Holden Caprice and also a 2011 VE SSV Redline Commodore. The Commodore is the car that has brought me to this forum and I have only recently joined.

This thread is of interest to me as I have spent considerable time doing the same research as Ben98gs in compiling Holden production information. I had seen a letter from Holden to a VE SSV Redline owner. The letter claimed that only 545 VE redlines were produced. I was very sceptical about this low number and set about looking into it. To cut a long story short, the number was wrong with 3,029 being produced. After I found all the Redline VIN’s I moved onto other Holden models from the same era. That era is MY11, MY12 & MY12.5. The last model I looked into were the export Caprices (PPV’s and Middle East).

So, my research has been centred around the entire MY11, MY12 & MY12.5 VIN list for cars built by Holden at their Elizabeth factory in Australia. This predominantly covers the period from September 2010 to May 2013. This covers your WM PPV Caprices for that period and I can expand on the good work done by Ben98gs.

I have attempted to attach my entire spreadsheet of WM PPV’s but it seems that xlsx format is not liked by this forum any longer. Maybe I’m doing something wrong. So in the meantime I’ve attached a screenshot of the totals for MY11 and what I have been able to determine for MY12.

A few points of note:

1. The VIN’s are allocated in blocks. Within 2 blocks of MY12 6G1MK5 VIN’s there are 173 VIN’s with no available data. I therefore cannot determine how many of those 173 VIN’s are Middle East exports (6G1MK5C) and how many are PPV exports (6G1MK5R, 6G1MK5U) These missing VIN’s are within the ranges from L606689 to L606902 and from L608599 to L608786. Would be great if owners of PPV's in those ranges could come forward so that we can confirm the actual VIN's for some of those 173. Your VIN may not be one of the 173, but it could be :).

2. The production table/numbers posted by Ben98gs does closely resemble what I have found but not exactly. For the most part the colour breakdowns are close but in some cases my numbers are slightly higher. Bear in mind my numbers are derived from the actual VIN’s as well as the RPO colour code assigned to each VIN.

3. The MY12.5 numbers are puzzling to say the least. I have what I very confidently believe to be the entire list, minus 10, of MY12.5 VIN numbers from the Holden plant. This sequence is 6G1xxxxxxCL700001 to 6G1xxxxxxCL722556. Full scale production was from August 2012 to May 2013. My list contains only one single PPV VIN from the entire MY12.5 range. That VIN happens to be 6G1MK5U30CL700001. Does anyone on this forum own a PPV in the L7xxxxx sequence range. If 3,721 of them do exist I would think that there would be many owners on this forum who could confirm and supply some info.

4. Since there aren't many Canadian PPV's I can list those VIN's here for you. They are all 9C1: 6G1MK5E27BL516551 - GII 24/3/2011, 6G1MK5T29BL541695 - GII 6/4/2011, 6G1MK5E23BL564032 - GII 4/7/2011, 6G1MK5E25BL564033 - GII 23/6/2011, 6G1MK5T23BL564034 - GII 23/6/2011, 6G1MK5T25BL564035 - GII 24/6/2011, 6G1MK5E20BL564036 - GAN 23/6/2011, 6G1MK5E22BL564037 - GAN 23/6/2011, 6G1MK5T20BL564038 - GII 4/7/2011, 6G1MK5E26BL564039 - GII 24/6/2011, 6G1MK5E22BL564040 - GII 23/6/2011, 6G1MK5T20BL564041 - GAN 23/6/2011, 6G1MK5T22BL564042 - GII 23/6/2011, 6G1MK5T24BL564043 - GII 23/6/2011, 6G1MK5T28BL575109 - GIE production date unknown, 6G1MK5R37CL601216 - GII 25/11/2011.

Cheers.

Thanks for the info redsled. It's not actually one of the 173 missing VIN's but your info is great none the less. I had already confirmed the VIN through finding it by trial and error here: https://bid.cars/en/lot/1-58963880/2012 ... earch=true

It is a VIN that comes up blank in the VIN decoder sites so any extra info is always helpful. It certainly looks like a 9C3 in that link above but good to have confirmation anyway.

It's official! I have the ONLY Canadian spec Caprice in Canada, at least on the road.

I received the UVIP regarding 6G1MK5T28BL575109. It was first owned by Six Nations Police and registered on 2011/10/28. It was then transferred to a used car dealership in Toronto on 2016/02/19 and the same day to a person in Toronto with 184,815km. Here's the interesting part, it was then transferred to a numbered company (2246701 Ontario Ltd.) on 2021/11/15 with 232,801km. When I search for this company, I came up with this on Google and that it is permanently closed.

They still have a website so I have sent them a message and hoping that I can get a reply with this car's current status. On the UVIP, it shows as being UNFIT, meaning it cannot be driven on the road. I also asked if it was used in a movie or show, which would be interesting to know.

I'm thinking that it was used as a prop and destroyed/scrapped.

Received this reply:
We still own the vehicle. One of our regular clients asked us if we would interested in purchasing the vehicle from the estate of a friend who had passed away so that's how we ended up with it. Our vehicles are registered unfit as we don't plate them as they are being used as picture vehicles and are towed to the movie locations but this vehicle still runs and is in pretty good shape. I guess we have one of the 2 left in Canada according to your research.
So I guess I can say I have the only one on the road 8-)
