So you CAN simply physically rotate the shifter mechanism on the transmission to get it to go into lower gears? I thought it was only electric?smwalker wrote: ↑Thu Jul 13, 2017 7:47 pm
Jim you never will find a G8 shifter like the one he used.. Because he got his from Australia from a model that came out 4 years before our cars came out. And a year or so before the G8 was imported. He wrote:
c) Use a 2006-07 Holden VE/WM shifter. They didn't go to tap shift until late '07, so the early cars have a straight gate shifter that includes P-R-N-D-3-2-1 (the method I used)
One thing you will notice is that the Gear indicators are on the wrong side of the shifter in relation to the driver, because in AU the driver sits on the other side of the shifter. One way you can see it not from/for the US market.
EDIT: I just realized there might be a left hand drive version in the Middle east for year 06-07. And yep sure enough there is a part that has gear indication of the correct side if you did not want to hook up tap shifting:
Good luck trying to find one of them!
If a manual operation is possible a ratcheting shifter might be an option. Hmmm.
