Lost key
Re: Lost key
Without an original key, you may be in for a dealer trip. There are three things that tie a key to a car:
- shape - it needs to be cut properly. you may be able to replace the cylinder with a matching key
- immobilizer - there's a chip in the key that needs to be "recognized" by the device in the steering column. this may require a dealer to wave his magic wand (computer connection to car)
- remote capabilities - I think both of the above need to be in order for you to sync your remote with your car. Once you have a "good" key in the ignition, you can go through menus to tie your remote portion of your key to your car
