Looks like I’ve got the 11th car into the states, #500265

I bought it second hand with 1425 miles on the clock.

Milford proving grounds car.

I’ve got about 23K on her, now.

She’s a beast.

2011 9C3
Last 6 - 571728
GGG/Alto Gray/WA744S (SPIL sticker on tire cover says Heron White!)
Twin batteries
Trunk tray
No speed limiter
No remote start (added via WAMS/new BCM/dealer tech programming with Tech2)
No heated mirrors
No spotlights
No Kerr upfit equipment

23 miles on odometer at first test drive, at 96K nearly 9 years later

Warranty started 7/31/2012
Purchased Nov 2012

Atlanta dealer decided to give up trying to sell fleet/police, had several Caprices in inventory in same situation, several owned by others here. "Sold" the inventory to turn them into used cars, returned them to dealer inventory, then listed them on their internet site, available to all customers. Cars never moved from storage lot when the warranty was activated. One way to get around the GM edict on selling fleet/police models - large dealer footprint in Atlanta, likely they weren't going to let GM dictate the rules on how they had to sell these orphan cars.

I'll play.
2015 Silver Ice Metallic. 103,000 miles. Formerly owned by the county of Los Angeles. The three obvious agencies are Sheriff, Probation and Fire. Super nice shape, never had spots, super low hours relative to miles and well cared for. It had front lights at the visors, but I can only tell because there was a film of dust shaped like the front of the lights and a slight crease at the front of the headliner. They did cut up the little cove finishing piece and remove the power outlet mounting from the actual dash. Otherwise, there's no damage from the equipment. Oh, there's a quarter sized rubber plug where the only antenna hole was on the decklid. USB, Bluetooth and backup camera all work with no programming. I'm going to assume the Aux in works too, once I get it wired up.

Vin ends with: 128622 D.O.M. 5/15 8k hours total and 265 idle. I thought I overpaid at 12,500, but since I have looked around a bit, I feel pretty good about it. Oh and it has carpet/matching floormats and factory dark tint.

NewCapriceFan wrote: Mon Sep 28, 2020 10:56 am I just came across this post. Thanks for taking the time and effort to put this together. I always wanted to find out more information on my vehicle. According to my Build Sheet, mine was designated for "CVMS Use". It also has the SPID code OAR (Evaluation Vehicle). I purchased it in October of 2017 at a Chevy Dealer in CT with just under 600 miles on it. Any further info you might have or come across, I would greatly appreciate your letting me know. Here's the info you requested:

2016
200017
Silver Ice Metallic
LFX/3.6L V6
VERY interesting. According to the information I received from the Holden logistics engineer, VIN 200016 was the first 2016 US Caprice, so yours would have been the second 2016 produced (by VIN sequence). That would go along confirming it as an evaluation or “pre-production” vehicle (it would have been built in Aug. compared to Oct. when “standard” production started).

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I sold my Caprice so not on here a whole lot.

Added a decently large update to the production list file. Still searching for VINs (takes FOREVER with the Middle East cars with 2 different VIN configurations and 4 different configurations for the US cars…)

I find this sheet very interesting, I don't know how many PPVs I would have thought where produced but this number is a lot higher than I would have guessed. Which is the better car to find, Patrol or detective? I gather the detective model may have less police attachments and is a bit more civilised? I gather that the detective model was dropped with the cars based on WN Holdens, later series with more modern dashboard. Also of interest what's with retail verses fleet, where these cars available outside the police force or government agencies? Some of the colours align with Holden colours and some of them don't although I suspect one or two may be colours available on the VF commodore range in Australia but not Caprice. Excellent reference. Also did PPVs in the later models not come with the LS3 engine. Our series 2 WN model came with the 6.2 and importantly lacked the cylinder deactivation feature which is why I specifically looked for the later car in the first place even though it was more expensive for a car in similiar condition. However the later the model the easier it is to find one in original condition with lower kms on the dial. Thanks for the info Darren

A LOT of your questions can be answered here:

http://www.newcaprice.com/files.htm

Quick specs are in the 'Hero' documents. All Caprices came with a V6 with VVT, or an optional 6.0L L77 V8 with DOD. Opting for a 9C1 or 9C3 would depend on what you are wanting. Something for young kids/pups that's easier to clean? 9C1 is your weapon of choice. Comfy cruiser with carpet and a full console? 9C3 is the answer.

Hi there PPV owners.

I am in Australia so am obviously not a PPV owner. I do own a 1990 Holden Caprice and also a 2011 VE SSV Redline Commodore. The Commodore is the car that has brought me to this forum and I have only recently joined.

This thread is of interest to me as I have spent considerable time doing the same research as Ben98gs in compiling Holden production information. I had seen a letter from Holden to a VE SSV Redline owner. The letter claimed that only 545 VE redlines were produced. I was very sceptical about this low number and set about looking into it. To cut a long story short, the number was wrong with 3,029 being produced. After I found all the Redline VIN’s I moved onto other Holden models from the same era. That era is MY11, MY12 & MY12.5. The last model I looked into were the export Caprices (PPV’s and Middle East).

So, my research has been centred around the entire MY11, MY12 & MY12.5 VIN list for cars built by Holden at their Elizabeth factory in Australia. This predominantly covers the period from September 2010 to May 2013. This covers your WM PPV Caprices for that period and I can expand on the good work done by Ben98gs.

I have attempted to attach my entire spreadsheet of WM PPV’s but it seems that xlsx format is not liked by this forum any longer. Maybe I’m doing something wrong. So in the meantime I’ve attached a screenshot of the totals for MY11 and what I have been able to determine for MY12.

A few points of note:

1. The VIN’s are allocated in blocks. Within 2 blocks of MY12 6G1MK5 VIN’s there are 173 VIN’s with no available data. I therefore cannot determine how many of those 173 VIN’s are Middle East exports (6G1MK5C) and how many are PPV exports (6G1MK5R, 6G1MK5U) These missing VIN’s are within the ranges from L606689 to L606902 and from L608599 to L608786. Would be great if owners of PPV's in those ranges could come forward so that we can confirm the actual VIN's for some of those 173. Your VIN may not be one of the 173, but it could be :).

2. The production table/numbers posted by Ben98gs does closely resemble what I have found but not exactly. For the most part the colour breakdowns are close but in some cases my numbers are slightly higher. Bear in mind my numbers are derived from the actual VIN’s as well as the RPO colour code assigned to each VIN.

3. The MY12.5 numbers are puzzling to say the least. I have what I very confidently believe to be the entire list, minus 10, of MY12.5 VIN numbers from the Holden plant. This sequence is 6G1xxxxxxCL700001 to 6G1xxxxxxCL722556. Full scale production was from August 2012 to May 2013. My list contains only one single PPV VIN from the entire MY12.5 range. That VIN happens to be 6G1MK5U30CL700001. Does anyone on this forum own a PPV in the L7xxxxx sequence range. If 3,721 of them do exist I would think that there would be many owners on this forum who could confirm and supply some info.

4. Since there aren't many Canadian PPV's I can list those VIN's here for you. They are all 9C1: 6G1MK5E27BL516551 - GII 24/3/2011, 6G1MK5T29BL541695 - GII 6/4/2011, 6G1MK5E23BL564032 - GII 4/7/2011, 6G1MK5E25BL564033 - GII 23/6/2011, 6G1MK5T23BL564034 - GII 23/6/2011, 6G1MK5T25BL564035 - GII 24/6/2011, 6G1MK5E20BL564036 - GAN 23/6/2011, 6G1MK5E22BL564037 - GAN 23/6/2011, 6G1MK5T20BL564038 - GII 4/7/2011, 6G1MK5E26BL564039 - GII 24/6/2011, 6G1MK5E22BL564040 - GII 23/6/2011, 6G1MK5T20BL564041 - GAN 23/6/2011, 6G1MK5T22BL564042 - GII 23/6/2011, 6G1MK5T24BL564043 - GII 23/6/2011, 6G1MK5T28BL575109 - GIE production date unknown, 6G1MK5R37CL601216 - GII 25/11/2011.

Cheers.

Perhaps the MY12.5 PPV's were given 6G3 VIN's. Not sure why there would have been a change, but that would explain the existence of all those MY12.5 numbers.

I own the Canadian 6G1MK5T25BL564035. The other two Canadian ones went to Six Nations Police but their current whereabouts are unknown.

Where did you get the data regarding the other Canadian ones? No info has ever come out that any others were exported to Canada except for the 3. I know of maybe one V6 that was brought used from the US to Canada and possibly another V8 that I once saw on FB Marketplace Canada however the seller never replied to my inquiries so it may have been in the US awaiting import.

If there were that many in Canada, I would have expected the VINs to have been included in the Insurance Bureau of Canada VIN database for insurance purposes and they are not. Ask me how I know. :(
