Horn not working

Post by xten57 »

Hello, all,

My horn had been working normally, and now it does not. I checked the fuse (F8 in the under-hood panel) and it was good, but I replaced it with a new one just to verify. Still no horn. I've read through a bunch of other threads on this site and can't find a solution. Everything else on the steering wheel still works as it did before the horn failed, so I don't know where else to look. Is there another fuse that could also control the horn circuit?

Any suggestions for trouble shooting would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Gerry

What year?

In the 11-13 it's a brown wire
In the 14+ it's a Green with a white stripe

both in the passenger footwell:

Thanks for your reply, Steve. My car is a 2013 9C3. I'll check for a broken wire, although I can't understand how that could happen. The horn was working fine.

Is there more than one fuse controlling the horn? Any relays?

Thanks again,

Steve, thanks again. I found the relay, it's R16 in my 2013 fuse panel. I checked it and it's good. However, I dug around under the glove box and found a pair of wires that had become disconnected from a butt connector. I cut out the connector and replaced it with a good one, and used some good crimpers to re-make the connection.

Now, I have a horn again.

Thanks to everyone else who helped on this.
