Proud new owner of a Caprice PPV!
Greetings Caprice-inites! Long time watcher/stalker, now a member! Just want to say thanks for all the amazing info on here. Just picked up a 2012 PPV from the Pensacola, Florida PD fleet auction. Now resting comfortably in Saint Charles Illinois, "Dangle" is a creampuff - with only 79K on the ticker and low hours. First order of business is a paint job and a new battery for now, but my wishlist of goodies is building quickly. Looking forward to yet another journey of swearing, head-scratching, and spending way more money than my wife will ever know.

Re: Proud new owner of a Caprice PPV!
Welcome Mr. CarJ,
Good deal that you got low miles and hours. I'm in NW Indiana... about an hour away from you. Welcome to the greatest show on earth. Well, pretty good anyway. This place is crazy good reference and a bunch of nice folks.
You'll have to keep us current. I just buffed my "black beauty" ('13 9C3) and my oh my it looks purty. It is amazing to me how much buffing can change the look of a car. Make sure you get plenty of clear coat on your new paint job so you have "room to work with" later.

Thanks for the info and the welcome, Gamma. After seeing what the Florida sun did to this clearcoat, I will definitely be adding an extra layer of protection. One sharp ride you got there.

What is your preferred color? Black shows dirt like crazy but looks sooo good when clean. White is nice too. Your paint job (black/white combo) is called "panda". What is the "real color"? In other words, what do the door jams, under hood and inside trunk look like? If I could pick a color, I might go with a dark red. In GMC and Chevrolet parlance, its called Volcanic Red Tintcoat. It would be extra work to change colors though...

I haven’t checked the Service Parts sticker yet but all signs point to white being the original color. Big fan of the phantom black, but the white is growing on me. That red is slick, but budget says keep it stock.
