Poor mans SS

Post by EnterSandman »

Got lucky or unlucky time will tell. I won a 2013 PPV from a local police department auction. I was able to drive it home so that is the good.

It needs seats, headliner, overhead console, and the obvious center console swab. It came with the cage which my kids like so it might stay. I think I will make it my UBER.

Light body damage to the bumpers and to the right of the grill making it difficult to shut the hood.

So, I have seats from a G8 on the way along with the complete console. Plan to tear the inside down and build it back up. Anyone with helpful links or ideas please share.

A V6 caprice would make a pretty awesome dedicated uber or postmates type vehicle, Welcome to the forum!

An Uber with a cage.... shades of NYC Bronx borough taxi? :)

Welcome, glad to have you here!

Welcome! Sounds like a good project with some TLC. Need to see some pics though. You should actually start a member build.

Check out my build thread. The link is in my signature. I did the G8 seat and console swap. Some challenges, mostly on swapping the seat frames.

I’ll get pix up soon. Working on organizing my garage first so I can have a clean workspace. I worked in an auto upholstery shop after getting out of the Army. I hope this eases any issues with the seats and console/headliner.

I’ll definitely take a good look at your build thread.

Ok. After having the police called on my PPV a few times and receiving a parking ticket along with a letter from my friendly neighborhood HOA I’ve moved my car into the car into my cramped garage.

Looks like you picked up a pretty decent ride. The Alto cars are ultimate sleepers and blend in well with all the other cars on the road.
I don’t think I could ever live in a development that had HOA rules. It is bad enough with some of the stupid city ordinances.

What justification were the people calling the cops on your car using? Normally the local police will not enforce code on minor violations such as "no working on your car in your driveway", that's what local Code Enforcement is for. Or HOA rules for that matter. At least here in Central Florida, of course your mileage may vary.

I think I'd be planning a whole load of Merry Christmas for those kind of neighbors :) Here's your gift - 25 lbs of fresh Holstein lawn fertilizer!

I am in a neighborhood with an HOA. Yes, I want to move. Yes, wifey says no. Generally, HOA's are all bark and little bite. They were building a case against me for having a "high speed internet" antenna on my roof - which happens to be protected by the FCC. FCC rulings override city, town or hoa rules. My "eyesore of an antenna" was no longer needed after I was able to get cable but while it was around I told them to "bring it" and I would fight them. I never heard another word.

I had a neighbor call because we had a firepit in the yard (complete with FIRE). Now I'm in "town ordinance territory". First he called the local PD. They pulled up and asked my next door neighbor (a friendly) if I had a fire in my yard.. neighbor said, "yeah, I think so". Officer shrugs and drives off. 15 minutes later, I hear sirens. Since PD wouldn't do anything, this knuckle head calls the fire department. I had a long conversation with the fine fire department. They said I cannot burn leaves or garbage. I said I was not. "..well, we're getting complaints". About exactly what sir?

My kids like marshmallow flaming and chatting around the firepit events. I feel a little bad for the guy. He's got nothing better to do than worry about someone else's business. I think he's no longer able to complain or possibly deceased. The moral of the story is to live a good long life as your best revenge.
