My new daily, West burbs of Chicago

Post by tvallaro »

I'm Tim, from Illinois.

I just purchased a 2015 Caprice, silver. 9C1, 6.0, ~52k miles, ~500 idle hours, DOD delete (tuned out).

I had been looking for a Caprice on and off for the past 1.5 years and I finally bit the bullet. Purchased from Chicago Motors....Great dealer. This car is my daily now that the lease on my 2017 Malibu has ended (I upgraded for sure!).

Day one I tuned out DOD. I do not plan on doing many upgrades, but I will likely do an axle back exhaust as well as the VCM OTR intake. Cosmetics will likely include the lower grill and the fender repeaters.

Looking forward to learning more about these beasts as well as contributing to the group.

Fender repeaters are the lights that can be added in place of the stock plastic fender inserts. I may buy from Holdenpartsusa.com, but I am on a mission to source the repeaters from the 2011-ish Buick Park Avenue that was sold in China.

That car looks great. Low hours/mileage is a big bonus! I have axle backs (Solo). They do make more noise. It seems everyone that's been around my car loves them. I am concerned they're a little too loud :o . I think I'll eventually (maybe sooner rather than later) replace the entire exhaust including headers on my '13.

Thanks. I have only had my 2013 for a month. Learning fast. I like those repeaters. I sent an email about the grill as when they mentioned cut i got confused as to where. I don't want to paint parts. Let me know if you find those repeaters I think I found them out of Australia for a lot of $400 or more.

My buddy has a full exhaust with kooks headers on his G8 and it sounds mean. If this Caprice wasn't my daily, then I would do full exhaust. I considered axle back briefly, but then had to remind myself that I will need to sit in this thing everyday. Also, I like my neighbors :D

Also, I completely forgot wheels in my first post. A friend of mine gave me a set of 2015 Camaro wheels. He was going to put it on his Caprice, but then he bought the G8 (mentioned above) instead. They are silver, like my car, so I will be getting these powder coated darker. I am thinking gun metal or slightly darker. To much silver for my taste otherwise. Personally, I am not a fan of the caps that are on the car now.
