Has anyone actually been able to remove the rear dust shield?
I cut mine when I did a rear brake swap, but I have a spare spindle off and want to get the dust shield off. As you know it is sandwiched between the hub and the spindle. 2 of the bolts hold on the e brake expander. And then one more on the top i believe.
I got the e brake shoe off.. lots of prying. Not sure how I’m going to get it back on, as not a whole lot of videos exist on it. Was seeing if anyone here had experience with it.

you have to remove the hub
Re: Rear brake shield and e brake removal
As in press out the hub and bearing ?
I thought that might be the case but it’s hard to find info on it. Or e brake removal. All the videos or instructions always go from take wheel off, then skip to remove bearing. And they never in detail show how they remove the ebrake shoe

correct , has to be pressed out , and if you are going that far , depending on your cars mileage might want to change the hub bearings , because why pay for the job twiceBlack6 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 15, 2025 5:39 am As in press out the hub and bearing ?

You have to remove the spindle to get to the dust shield, You’re also going to have to do the bearings both ways — either by pressing the spindle out or using a slide hammer with a spindle attachment. I highly recommend getting new spindles and new bearings.

Well that was dumb.
But it’s off.
Also it sucks that the wheel flange has been discontinued, and that the gm bearings are so expensive.
