2012 Caprice PPV Coilovers

Post by BirdOnNos »

New to the forum, i have a 2012 Caprice PPV and was wondering what coilovers work on these cars. Will the G8 coilovers work without modification?

yes the G8 parts , most rear coilovers will require some modification to the area above the shock to clear the adjuster

And the metal back there is structural, and VERY hard!! You'll want some good drill bits, and probably good, fresh die-grinder bits to make those holes. You'll be drilling them after you pull the old ones out of the way. But yes, G8 coilers FTW!!

So nobody makes a coilover that does NOT require cutting the car? We are left with factory-only?

Pedders require a small hole in the strut top. Not a hard thing or damaging to the body. Adjustments are done under the cat no body holes.

You're saying strut which makes me think front, but most everybody has been talking about the back shocks requiring all this work. So do you mean front or rear? I mean, I realize it is just a cop car and all, but I don't want to have to go hogging out holes if I don't need to. Same reason I've never cut the floor out of my Firebird to do fuel pumps... it just ain't happenin', Cap'n :D

The rears. Has a adjuster on the side of it. When you disassemble your old one you'll have to reuse the factory top hat. At that time you drill a hole in the side of the top hat not the car.

That I can deal with. I was debating going back with stock and at this point it's going to be over $600, even from Rock Auto, for struts, shocks, and mounts alone, and still have all the 160k mile springs and other parts I have to swap over from the factory setup and still be riding "high water". Had the Pedders saved already but wasn't sure what all needed to be done.

You happy with the ride vs performance?
