Transmission problems?

Post by 20139c1 »

When I started my Caprice (2013) this morning it gave a bunch of warning lights in the dash. ABS, Stabilitack, those went away and left me with a Check Engine light. It started kinda rough but settled into a normal idle. When I drove it I noticed the car didn't start moving when I released the brake. I had to give it gas and it felt like it was slipping.
After I got up to speed it was not shifting into high gear. Something like 2800 RPM at 55 MPH.
Is this a simple fuse issue or is the trans/converter gone?
The car has 106,000 miles. Mostly stock except for H&R springs, a Roto fab intake and Solo axel back pipes. I recently had the center resonator and the two small resonators in front of it removed and replaced with an x pipe.
I have not been able to scan it yet as I had to get to work.
One last note, I have been running a Range DOD disabler for 500-1000 miles.

I have had the Ranger for 20K miles with no issue but I would just unplug that while you check everything out. Maybe one of those ABS wheel sensors? I have to say I would have the codes pulled before I did anything. I d also make sure no one unplugged anything while doing the exhaust or spring work upfront. Let us know.

I scanned it and fot a P0700 code. Cleared the code and it started fine. Haven't driven it yet.

So, the following repairs may help fix the P0700 code:

Replacing faulty solenoids.
Replacing a faulty transmission valve body.
Replacing transmission fluid.
Fixing the wiring harness.
Replacing the transmission control module (rare)

Crawl under the car and make sure they didn't leave a wire harness unclipped so it could lay on an exhaust pipe. While you're there, make sure the transmission harness didn't get unplugged.
