CAI update with stock GM part?
Just picked up a 2012 Caprice 9C3.
When going over the intake options I came across someone that had sourced a stock GM tube that went from the air box to the intake and got rid of the large mass of plastic the caprice has. I've searched and searched and can not find that thread. I can't remember what i initially searched for to to get onto that thread.
Was it the stock G8 tube or maybe one from a GTO that would fit? Just for fun I want to swap this and dyno it to see if it makes any difference at all but I'm going to going to spend 100+ bucks to try this. Any insight on what car I can steal from would be appreciated.

Re: CAI update with stock GM part?
I believe the stock Z28 (LS7 flavor) intake is close to a bolt in solution (also I imagine fairly expensive). Otherwise I think some guys here have used the G8 Spectre CAI with success.
Actually I think it might in fact be the GTO one. Stock G8 intake IIRC looks like ours.
I don't even know if I answered the question.

Heh, so many parts to interchange. The specific post had a picture of the tube installed but never gave a part number or anything. I thought they said it came off of an LS2? Maybe? I think it was less than a hundred bucks because they were posting it as an alternative to all the guys buying the $300+ dollar intakes.
If I can't find that part I'll probably wind up just making one out of some couplers and a piece of tube but if there's a GM OE part that fits and is fairly inexpensive I'll go that route.

I’ve seen the gto tube used on g8’s before. They do not have all the baffling. You can also buy some silicone couplers and a 4” 90* tube (you’ll need a bit more angle out of one of the couplers).
Or the AEM intake tube from a g8 fits and is about $200. There’s also the airaid CAI which is quite cheap on amazon all the time for the g8.

You might be thinking of my post.

I used the stock box, but just got some silicon connectors and a vacuum cleaner part it ran me like $50.
Been on the car for months not this way and no issues.

I believe that AEM also offers just the tube that goes between TB and airbox to eliminate the all the plastic in the intake.
On Edit: 21-8027DC AEM Brute Force Intake System $198.99...not cheap.

This post is a little old, but I figure I’d chime in. So I have a GTO with a vararam, so I have my stock GTO intake laying around and I tried to put the intake tube on.Ilikemtb999 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 11:11 am I’ve seen the gto tube used on g8’s before. Overall I don’t think it will actually provide you a benefit. You have to bend the tube so it makes a less than 90 degree angle which impedes flow, also, the Vacuum hose attachment is not in the right place so you would Have to sort that out as well.
Below is a picture of it on, but I removed it and went stocks because I don’t think it has any benefit.
