Misfire Cylinder 1

Post by impalaplt »

Well, I've been chasing a "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" now for a week or so.....

I'm not sure exactly what happened (Daughter and her Boy Friend) were driving the car, so......

The car has about 56,000 miles on it.

It has 8700 engine idle hours.....

I have done the following:

Used the spray bottle of water on the exhaust maniford to see if it boiled or not. #1 hasn't. #3 has.

New injectors in cylinder 1 and 3 (because at first I thought it was #3).

Checked Injector wiring with noid light. It flashes.

Listened to new injectors with the screwdriver method. I can hear them clicking.

Swapped the Coil Pack between 1 and 3. No change.

New Plug and wire today. Old Plug had oil on the threads coming out.

With all new parts, still misfire, check engine light.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Still have to do the DOD Delete. Could this be a symptom?

Compression Check?

Time for a tear down/rebuild to a 402/406/408????

Thanks

Planned for a BTR Truck Norris Cam for the Torque, possible future LSA Supercharger....

Or a new engine block....

The valve covers come off these engines REALLY easy. If you think you have a collapsed lifter it'll only take you couple of minutes to find out. Run it with the cover off and you'll see a rocker not moving.

Thanks Joe.......

Guess I'll have to do that next......

Hell, I should probably just order the Cam and DOD Delete kit now......

But, maybe I'll hold off.....Till I know for sure....
