The torque converter is the weak link. When it wears out, it sends shrapnel through the pump destroying it and everything else. If it's an OEM ZL1, it might not have a beefed up TC clutch face. Did you check/replace the diff oil? Drain it and see if you find some metal bits. Check the wheel hubs for bad bearings as well as the axles. Sounds like it could be a bad bearing.
