Sway Bar Bushings

Post by Z09SS »

My '12 has a good steering wheel shake in right turns only.

This is far better than it used to be. The car was nearly undriveable above 50 before I did the strut mounts, lots of wheel shake, especially in right turns.

Then I did the inner and outer tie-rods. Small improvement; but noticeable.

Then the sway bar end tie rods. Big improvement and now the shake is JUST right turns when the cars weight shifts.

Everything I've done has made it better, but not cured it completely.

Today I started taking the car apart to replace the front struts. To make sure it wasn't a control arm I started yanking things around to see if anything moved.

The front sway bar moves left to right about 4 inches!

New bushings are on the way. I think I will put off the struts and the attendant alignment until I see what affect the bushings have.

L to R: Driver's side, new bushing, passenger side.

My wheel shimmy is greatly reduced, but still present.

Everything I do makes it a little better.
