PPV Wannabe

Post by colemanvoice »

Hey all. Boring no photo post here. I'm here to gather info and hunt down a 2014-1017, L77 Caprice. Got too excited at an auction site...had to look up vin to find out it was a 6 cylinder. And, no offense, I just like that interior of the later models. :D I'm a current owner of a (what a cousin?) 5th Gen Camaro.

Welcome! Yep, it's easy to mistake a LFX car for a L77 with some of the minimal information auction sites put out sometimes. It'd really be buzzkill if you bought a car sight unseen thinking it had a V8, went to get it, popped the hood, and..... SURPRISE!!!

For searching there's a number of good resources, I'd try the link to AutoTempest to hit the dealers & private party sales. For auctions, that'll just take some time to go through the individual site listings. However, persistence pays off!

Good luck!

Congrats. It will be fun making the car the way you want it. Having the newer interior gives you some nice updates over my old fashion 2011.

I knew to look for 2014-17's after researching this site and looking at what was available. The production list helped me realize, there are not many 15-17's. It was pointed out to me by the Interceptor King, 15's were first year of rear view camera's..."so, I got that goin for me."

The car has been delivered from Interceptor King in Oregon to me in Georgia. Car arrived as described and photo'd. I was fortunate in that, Interceptor King, Jason, had this 2015 tucked away, written off as motor damaged, the lifters knocking as they do. In speaking with Jason, he knew I was looking to build one up, so he mentioned this 2015. Sold. Jason was cool to work with. Honest, respectable guy. He has always been available and was great at giving good customer service. Yeah, I'm talking him up, because he desirves it. Thanks Jason.

In Georgia now.

So what plans do you have to build it? We do see a lot of rollers that were subjected to engine pulls from time to time both through auctions & private party sales, always would love to see someone drop in a 6.2 from an SS into one of these. There's a lot of things you can do to the powertrain after you exorcise the DOD setup, for any car with AFM still installed that should be one of the first things done. Unless you have a kickass after-market warranty :D

Glad you picked up a 15, that year is really the sweet spot - although you can retrofit the CD player into a 16 or 17 as well, just have to replace the AC controls as well if you do that. I do like having the backup camera though!

Good luck on your mods!
