Re: Hello Folks
Wow, 3 grand? Someone got a smokin deal!!! I was just reading through to the end of this to see if I should make you an offer on it. Looks like I'm late to the party...
Re: Hello Folks
I figured, I could hold out for more but, why?
I did a quick accounting and ability to start the repair process and before I knew it, a couple of guys were making offers.
One gent bumped it up a few hundred bucks to seal the deal.
He has to fly in, lodge, drive it home and he is authorized to make repairs in a local shop for roadworthiness.
Very nice guy and I am happy he is in the process of buying it.

Re: Hello Folks
Hello Everyone,
Thanks again for all the help with my deer loving caprice.
I have a trail on another 13 PPV and it is pretty local considering.
It has 100,000 miles, Longtube Headers,3:42 Corvette Rear end, 2.5 Straiggt Pipe, New Radiator.
My concern is the kid and I do mean kid roughly 20 years old said it runs great but, sometimes the transmission shifts funny.
I asked about it and he said it is limited to first gear only and may shift sluggishly rarely.
I am sorry but, I am not a mechanical person by any means.
What the hell does that mean?
Haha, he is looking for $7,000.
Thanks

Re: Hello Folks
3.42 corvette rear ? i seriously doubt it , way to much work involved to custom fit a 4th gen rear into the car
now a 3.27 or a 3.45 camaro 5th gen diff is a direct bolt in
if the trans is on its way out , you are looking in the mid 3k range for a GM rebuilt unit , if you do the work yourself

Re: Hello Folks
The kid doesnt know exactly, he didnt do the work.
First gear shifts hard about half the time he said.
Now, he wants $5,000.
I dont know what to do.

Re: Hello Folks
I think I saw an ad for that car on FB... Ya, I think he's confused and it has a 3.45 5th gen Camaro rear end. It very much looked like it was a kid that didn't really know what was done with the car. At 5 grand I think you're pretty safe on it. As stated, 3 grand for a GM rebuilt trans, but you can have them rebuilt cheaper if there's a local shop that you trust. And that's IF there's anything wrong. He might just be a kid that has little or no experience with a hard shifting trans backing up a high tq v8.
Re: Hello Folks
depending on if your dealer gives you good guy prices the trans might cost you closer to 3k otd
5K isnt to bad , but keep in mind the prices needed to fix what ever needs to get repaired , the trans could be bad to being low on fluid , to needing to be retuned
