Factory Aux USB input discovered (2014-2017)
Re: Factory Aux USB input discovered (2014-2017)
So I noticed the USB plug that is tied up in the harness seems to be a special kind of end that looks like a locking extension cable could lock onto it. Anyone identified this USB connector? I assume it is a delphi product but can't seem to find anything yet. The positve locking aspect of it would be a benefit for long term reliability in a hidden area.
If I remember correctly I thin it looks like this:
Found this on the end of AC delco Part number 22885186
Just need to see a pic of what the matching connector looks like.
Only diagrams I can find for USB connectors in the service manual are for the 14 SS and it is a different style:

I don't think you need to worry about it. USB will not pull apart from vibration. I plan to run mine up through my Havis console somewhere. You might want to just zip tie it so that if it gets tugged, it won't pop out. Just loop the extension cable back up to the factory cable and tie it there.
Thanks to whoever found this, I did it today. Mine was on the passenger side. I just popped off the small trim piece in the footwell and was able to reach in and pull it down. I just looped a finger around the cable and slowly pulled. It is just held on with two bits of tape. The tape stretched and broke. I was not able to work a side cutters or knife in there, so I just pulled carefully.

Yes the USB cord that plugs into the Cars USB? Does it lock on?
I assume the cable has Mini B locking plug on the other end for a Standard GM receptacle?

Hello, I have a 2013 Caprice 9c1 and I’m very interested in having a working AUX. I have taken the trim of dash off like the previous post say to. I don’t find the USB in mine. A earlier post said only 2014 or newer but I just wanted to ask if anyone can help me out or knows how I can have AUX in the 2013.
-Thank You,
Justin.
