well the block would be bare at the point of getting the lifter bore bored out , so any metal from the lifter would have long been cleaned out

And that's not the worst part. When the lifter failed it totally screwed the lifter bore and knocked a chunk out of it. Anyone have a block sitting around they don't need?
Time to start looking for a 6.2L take-out!!

On the Caprice PPV page it was suggested that I look into the warranty. I thought it was 5yr 60k but apparently in 2013 it was still the 5 yr 100k. The vehicle has just under 99k on it now. I went and spoke to the service advisor at my local shop and he told me to put it back together and bring it to them. WARRANTY WILL COVER THE DAMAGE!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

my brother told me that i somehow end up running into a pile of shit and still come out smelling like roses.

Wow! That is unheard of luck! You might wind up with a brand new crate motor since this one will likely be deemed broken beyond repair. :D

I thought these had a much shorter warranty because of commercial/police use.

my 14 is 100k mileage , which was kept to 15 , then 16's dropped to 60k , but i think some fleet vehicles were able to stay with 100k
