Sneek Peak at the new look for my PPV soon to be called SSV

Post by mercialogo »

Here is a sneek peak at the mock up before paint goes on. A mod for the hood, including an SS grill, spotlight delete and will be putting a 1st gen G* Spoiler on the back.

Steve, which photo hosting service should I be using now since Photo Bucket is having issues? There was even 1 of my hood pics I could not get to link with Photobucket, but I did not know others could not see the pics I posted. What did you do to get them to see them?

Ever since photobucket went to a paid model someone came out with a chrome extension that somehow displays the photos without having to do anything. It's called Photobucket Hotlink Fix, if you are using chrome it's a nice extension.

Extension in Play store: Photobucket Hotlink Fix

As for hosting services I use Imgur but not sure it won't someday meet the same fate as photo bucket. In fact I think there is some ownership between the two. I do not even have an account on imgur you can just use it from the main page. They say as long as photos keep getting accessed they will stay hosted for ever. With bots crawling all over the forum I am sure the photos get accessed a lot. Enough to keep them active for a long time.

Remember we also have the attachment feature on the forum and even with the early days file corruption it seems t be working good now. Good Idea on important pictures is to host them on an outside site and link them as an attachment in the forum. Belt and suspenders sort of idea.

Hood looks good !!

Thank you Steve. I hope it will be the only one like it. I still need paint and maybe some stripes.

I agree, definitely a smexy hood. Is it a functional ram air or just for aesthetic purposes? If it's functional, does someone make it or is it custom? I would love to do something like this to mine, as even with super coolant she runs a bit hotter than I'd like.

Overall, very nice build.

Its as functional as a Pontiac G8 hood would be. A friend of mine had a small fender bender with his G8 and ended up getting a new hood from the insurance. I took his old hood and had my body and paint guy cut out the top and bottom side of the hood and weld it into the PPV hood. It fit like it was meant to be there. The under side " Dimples " as I call them matched up exactly so it really does ( or will when finished ) look OEM. I do plan on running an LSA supercharger once I get closer to Warranty end so I plan on at least having the vents as heat extraction.

Underside of the hood. Not sure what Steve did to make photo bucket images viewable other then the Google Add on.
