steel 18" Camero Wheels

Post by 20139c1 »

Has anyone used the steel 18" X7.5" Camero wheels on a Caprice? GM part number 92197458 or Hollander number 5440. These are the 5 spoke design kind of like 2nd gen Camero wheels. I have a set available at a good price. Any pics?

Base Camaro wheels should bolt up no problem, but why do you want to lose half an inch of width and still have steel wheels?

Adding lightness, I suspect. That, and you can get them widened, and STILL have lighter wheels. That, and they look 'about' the same.

My stock rims are a little rusty and i can get into the Camero rims for less than it will cost me to blast and paint the stock rims. Stock sized tires will still fit despite the 1/2" difference. Now that I've seen the pic of a lowered G8 on theses rims I believe my lowered Caprice will look good also. I'm not loosing any weight but I'm not gaining any either.

I would actually expect some weight loss. It would be very interesting to know the weight difference, since you'll be swapping things around. Thank you in advance. ;)

Are you deadset on keeping steelies?
I also because you must be getting a heck of a deal, but don't discount camaro alloy 18"s either, I've seen them really cheap and these cars can really pull them off

I would rather not spend any money on wheels that I could spend on headers and exhaust mods. My car needs tires and my wheels just don't look good enough for new tires. If this car was not so new I would let it wear the rust (patina) but it is way too new for stylish rust. Speaking of tires, has anyone used the Nitto NT555 g2? They come in the factory size.

Is there a recommended tire pressure monitor for the Caprice. Will the TPSM from in the Camero wheels work?
