Engine covers

Post by Ausyls2v »

G`day guys/gals chris from australia here.
We have an 2012 caprice v at home and its the family car....WE LOVE IT!!!!

I have a question for you peeps.....what engine covers are you all running over in the states? We dont have many options for holdens in australia and part numbers at the moment with covid are dodgy as hell.
Some people are painting them or adding HSV ones but i personally hate the SV ones.
Any pics would be great!!

Thanks!!

I kinda like the 2 piece valve covers: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hly-241-178. They hide the coils and the "top" cover can be what you want. I believe you can even get "409 looking" valve covers.

None! As noted above, the Caprice didn't get one, and if it did, I would have removed it like I did the cover on our 2010 Tahoe PPV. Can't stand the things!!

AFAIC, it's an evil plan by the car manufacturers to further 'black box' the mechanicals of the vehicles they produce. I like looking at engines, and hate them being covered. Luckily, they're easy to remove, and don't affect anything when gone. I dread the day the removal of a cover sets a CEL.

I did import a somewhat complete black leather interior from a Caprice Statesman. Door panels, front and rear seats. Didn't get the video screens in the headrests, though. Our Caprice didn't support the video and I would have needed a DVD player console also. I believe that, just recently, someone is looking at creating the wiring required, in another thread, here: https://www.newcaprice.com/forum/viewto ... =21&t=4393
I'm still using the original cloth seats in the front. The leather seats allow me to slide around during hard cornering...

Maurice
