as far as i know the 2nd battery is only there for the extra equipment , so it wont help start the car

i had the battery go out in mine and wouldnt start , dealer said the 2nd battery was still good

You could use jumpers from the 2nd battery to the main one for a boost.

this is correct, seems odd no one has posted how to rewire so it does, trick setup would be a giant switch in the trunk you flip to "jump" the 2nd battery for just such a deal

That would be a much better setup than trying to tear the back of the car apart just to string a couple of jumper cables over to the primary battery for a start. That was the original thought when I kept the secondary battery but replaced it with an Odyssey battery. Hooking up a couple of kill switches between the two, or pre-wiring a quick-disconnect would be the logical next step. Hmmmm...

But that snow, ewww!

Love the snow. Embrace it. I snowmobile while my Cap is hibernating safe and sound away from the all the salt and moisture.

Weather cold enough to support snow would kill about 50% of the trees we have on our property, especially the citrus. Not embracing the snow! I 'enjoyed enough' of that stuff as a kid to make a remembered-decision at the ripe old age of about 10 to never live anywhere on purpose that there's snow.

You may have all of mine!

The 2 in the truck of the 14 are connected, my guess is its 1 way set up to charge the 2nd battery. Good idea on the switch in the trunk, being in the boat business, that is actually very simple for me to do. Snow, its ok. sometimes.
