AM General/VPG MV-1 differential
AM General/VPG MV-1 differential
Anyone ever seen one of these? Pretty obscure use of the 5th gen Camaro differential. The only difference I can see is the rear cover, the pinion yolk and the pinion doesn’t have the stub sticking out through the yolk. They all seem to use the 3.45 lsd. How important is that stub? Guy has one locally for dirt cheap. There’s also one on eBay currently but haven’t figured out the best way to link to it.

Anyone who needs one of those probably doesn't care what it looks like.
Re: AM General/VPG MV-1 differential
Guy says he has about 20 units brand new never installed. Looks like he bought pallets at an auction. Pics are from a used unit on eBay.

Re: AM General/VPG MV-1 differential
Wonder if you could put the internals out and insert them into another carrier? Might be a good source for donor parts to swap out existing pumpkin internals with...
Oh, btw AM General is famous for military vehicles including the HMMV, never thought to check to see what kind of diff those took - they make a few other vehicle variants as well. My old RV's front end (89 Revcon slant-nose) was based off the HMMV suspension.

Re: AM General/VPG MV-1 differential
the rear mount is not in the right place , it has axle stubs , and the companion flange for the driveshaft is wrong

I've seen a couple of those in my neighborhood. Yes, they're quite ugly, and not even in a utilitarian kind of way.s/c'd cav wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 11:19 am that sounds like a ford powered custom vehicle , really fugly looking
