OK folks, discussion is now
finis. We'll try the build section on a trial basis effective sometime today. I'm sure we'll see a semblance of order, as I said if things get too far off topic we can always reorganize posts or even move topics out if necessary. I'm rather disappointed we didn't have more user input, but again, silence equals consent.
Mooseman, just to respond for a brief second, yes there are some elements of the software the forum uses that are outdated and a "scrub" to update things a bit is a bit overdue. With that said, however, recognize that to date there have been no assessments to users for any financial aspects of the site. There are no ads, no pop-up's here, the site is not monetized in anyway and will remain free of all that ilk as long as I have anything to say about it, in which I happen to have considerable say
No one has ever been asked by me to assist with paying for hosting fees, DNS fees, upgrade expenses or anything else dollar related. In the entire history of this system, one good user has donated $50. That's it. I'm just very lucky in that I have the distinct pleasure of having very good friends with a long history in the online car community. There is also the element of "keep it simple" that's worked for us rather well for over 4 years now.
The pic sizing issue actually sprung to life based on user input a few years back. We opened up the sizing due to user complaints and relied on them to be self-policing. Wellllll..... some things work better then others. So far it's been tolerable, but I can crank the screws back down very quickly with forum controls if I have to. Just hasn't come to that need... yet.
In sum, you've probably figured out by now that we're pretty easy-going here as long as the forum guidelines are adhered to. We have an excellent user base and very good associate administrators with plenty of common sense, and when that happens the jack boots are normally not needed. I don't like playing "gruppenfuhrer" because no one wins at the end of the day.
'nuff said!
