Insuring a 2011 Caprice?

Post by camrat68 »

I'm all set to purchase a 2011 Caprice and all of the paperwork has gone thru but I've hit a snag with my insurance company. They say that they can't find a category to insure it. What companies are you all using to insure these cars as a daily driver?

Had no problem with USAA. You may have to just provide the VIN so they can look it up if it doesn't pop in the data base. Relatively cheap too as they think its a grandma car.
2013 9C3, DoD delete, BTR Stg 1, Kooks 1 7/8, Rotofab, 3.27 Diff, VMR 810 wheels (staggered), King Springs (lowered), oh and a D1SC.

USAA seems to occasionally have troubles with these cars. When I gave them the VIN, they couldn't find it in their database. I then told them it was from Australia. They then asked, 'so, it's a gray-market car?', to which I answered, 'no, it's an import built by GMs manufacturer in Australia. It seems the first part of the VIN isn't the 'standard' GM VIN.

I told them it was a retired highway partol car, and definitely not gray-market. After a little more looking, they found the VIN, and we got the car insured. It wasn't as straight-forward as insuring the Tahoe, but we got it done.
