Chat system

Post by elc32955 »

Just to draw attention to it, we do have a live chat system enabled on the front page of the forum section. You have to log in before you can view it, it's a nice feature as it lets you talk to other members real-time. If you're talking out mods or working on a project it can come in handy.

On a few other systems I've helped manage, we scheduled live chats for the forum members to talk about car topics, etc... If anyone is interested here we can do that, I'd just need to set up a day and time certain and publish it.

It works, it's included with the system, and it's there for your use. Try it out if you get some time...

Go to the main forum menu. If you look below the topic areas (scroll the page down) you'll find the area called "Mini-Chat". You have to be logged in to see it.

Well, I feel like an idiot. Went out to the grocery store earlier, came back, and got completely sidetracked making dinner. Just now remembered the chat.... sigh..... one of those days :)

Wow.... I'm glad y'all said something. I went into the main forum page using our test account which has regular user access and didn't see the chat room either. It turns out the user permissions were not set up correctly. I've fixed it now, as soon as you register for access and go to the main forum page the chatroom should be visible. Any currently registered users should see it no problem.

I'll put an update on the system updates as well....

Thanks
Eric

Throwing out a suggestion. Throw out a "Hunt For Red October" PING at the top of the hour (or any other time) if you are signed in to chat with others. We would know to check the chat at these times? The Tuesday night chat would still be the official time.

Crazy Paul, I would assume, is in a different time zone than we are. Would may be give him a few extra opportunities to chat with us over here.

Just a thought
