I've read this before too. I dont know what their definition of cool is but I know the best police car ever is the Ford Crown Victoria...which didn't even make the list!

I remember when the "whale" Caprices came out... Nicknamed the black & whites "Shamu"... Called the Crown Vics "Flying Bricks"... at least until they redesigned them...

LOL. Depends what you define as "best". Best what? Best length of run, perhaps.

Here are a few other comments on that article:

Regarding the Monaco:
"What sealed the Dodge's reputation was a starring role as the police chase vehicle of choice in The Dukes of Hazzard. Any cop car that can keep up with the General Lee is pretty stout."

Don't forget the Plymouth Fury. Rosco's car could be either one (Monaco or Fury; the TV show used both). Technically it couldn't keep up with the General Lee. The Duke boys usually lost 'em one way or another.

A side note on the Fury from the 70's -- a good friend of mine has an actual 1972 Fury from the Michigan State Police. Fully restored. Another really nice car. The 440 police engines came with points when the rest of the Mopar line was switching to electronic ignition. I never could figure out why the police cars kept the points that year. My 1972 Newport (same C-Body platform) came with the electronic (no points) ignition, which I like better.

Regarding the Nova 9C1:
The only thing interesting about this car is the fact that the Nova was the first model to bear 9C1.

It was supposed to be about high performance cop cars to be precise. Crown Vic didn't make the list due to purportedly lacking performance for its era.
