The Criswell cars

Post by storm9c1 »

Three Criswell 9C3 cars were sold directly to the public back in 2011. Two forum members here have one (myself and Steve). The third, I saw on the Criswell lot myself, a black PPV with the upgraded wheels, and a sold sign on the windshield. I was also told it was sold just for confirmation. But never found out who. Maybe they will show up here someday.

Eventually I'd like to post the long story documenting my experience. But here is the short version:
When I read one of these articles, I called Criswell immediately, and was ready to reserve one. I threw a down-payment at them using a credit card. Next day, they stopped sales. Two days later, I was on a road trip to Maryland. They told me they were getting a TON of calls. Good publicity if you ask me. Even if they only sold 3. We haggled on the price of the Caddy wheels, I said screw it and told them I wanted the stock steel wheels instead. And since I was paying RETAIL (no discounts on this baby) and paying cash, I also was hoping for an extra set of the steel wheels and caps since I knew they didn't need them from the other car(s) that were sold with the Caddy rims. Steve, I probably have your original steel wheels and caps as the extra set I got from them! Criswell added some extra options (visual upgrades that many of you guys are adding yourselves) as documented dealer options which I will also clearly document here in the future.

I wanted to archive some of the links related to these special cars for posterity:

We should find out a way to "perma-link" these.

Tom,

I think you, Steve, that other guy, and myself are the only ones to buy our Caprices brand spanking new... 8-)

I'm starting to think I'm the only one to buy a 2012 brand new...

We were all in the right place at the right time!
