This text was taken from the NHTSA website. This is the link to the actual recall page;
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/Sea ... ds=1454790
Report Receipt Date: JUN 23, 2015
NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V399000
Component(s): SEAT BELTS
Manufacturer: General Motors LLC

SUMMARY:
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice vehicles manufactured October 15, 2010, to October 22, 2013, and 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 vehicles manufactured July 25, 2007, to February 18, 2009. In the affected vehicles, the flexible steel cables that connect the seat belts to the vehicle at the outside of the driver seat and the front passenger seat may be bent from being sat on while entering the vehicle. This repeated bending may result in the cable breaking.

CONSEQUENCE:
If the cable breaks, the seat occupant may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash, increasing their risk of injury.

REMEDY:
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the seat belt tensioner assembly which includes the steel cable, free of charge. These replacement parts reposition the tensioner cable out of the path of entry into the vehicle and uses a more flexible cable, set at a more upright angle. Owners were sent interim notices on August 5, 2015. Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy becomes available. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Pontiac customer service at 1-800-762-2737. GM's number for this recall is 15206.

NOTES:
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to http://www.safercar.gov" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

URGENT - DISTRIBUTE IMMEDIATELY

Date: June 18, 2015

Subject: Upcoming Safety Recall – 15206
Safety Belt Lap Anchor Tensioner Cable

Models: 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice PPV
2008-2009 Pontiac G8

To: All General Motors Dealers

Attention: General Manager, Service Advisor, Service Manager, Parts and
Service Director, Parts Manager, New Vehicle Sales Manager

General Motors has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
(NHTSA) about an upcoming safety recall that involves 2011-2013 model year
Chevrolet Caprice and 2008-2009 model year Pontiac G8 vehicles. The GM recall
number is 15206.

General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in
2011-2013 model year Chevrolet Caprice and 2008-2009 model year Pontiac G8
vehicles. The flexible steel cable that connects the safety belt to the vehicle at the
outside of the front outboard seating positions can fatigue and separate over time as a
result of occupant movement into the seat. In certain seating positions, the safety belt’s
flexible steel cable (or “tensioner cable”) can be located in a forward position allowing
the occupant to sit on top of it while entering the vehicle. This action can bend the steel
cable over the seat side shield, which over time may cause the cable to fatigue and
separate. In a crash, a fatigued cable could break, reducing the effectiveness of the
vehicle’s safety belts and increasing the risk of injury to the occupant.

Parts are not currently available, but when parts are available, dealers are to replace
the front outboard lap seat belt anchor assemblies.

This is a courtesy notification to dealers. Dealers will be advised when the recall
bulletin is scheduled for release.

The Investigate Vehicle History screen in the Global Warranty Management system has
been updated for this upcoming safety recall. This action has been taken to assist
dealers with determining which vehicles are involved so they can properly respond to
customer inquiries. Please note the "N/A" under Release Date and the "Incomplete –
Remedy Not Yet Available" message under Status. This means release of the recall
bulletin is still pending and dealers should not attempt to perform any repairs at this
time.

END OF MESSAGE
