"Upfit Build"

Post by BIG_GREEK »

Here's my build up on the Caprice, it's not your common build thread, no power addons, no big tires, no cam. Just upfitting the car, as it would have been.

The car was bought brand spank me new last August and the upfit was done June of this year. Parts and time were being acquired. I took the interior out with the exception of the carpet/mat (just folded it back). All work was performed by yours truly.

I dont have ALL of the pics during the process, but I'll add some later of the finished product(s).

I would bet dollars to doughnuts :D that is the neatest up-fit done on a Caprice!

To be a true "upfit" you must break at least one or more clips or fasteners on each panel ...must cut off all plug connectors and ends and then butt connect them (even though the other half of the plug is in the glove-box) You must drill and mount components to the dash's most expensive section thats the hardest to replace ...not the cheap easily removed one. .......From what I've seen. (have 5- 12's and 3- 14's sold one 12) BTW, have this KERR ind. relay board if interested $40 + "actual" fedex shipping no added jack ups.

That right there is a true statement. I have box of interior panels I need to replace because of crappy upfitters

Nice job! I have just about the same number of antennas on our car, but they're to plug holes and are inop. Our car came with that exact fuse block/circuit panel, laying in the passenger floorboard.

Any idea how much the sound deadener film weighed? That could probably cut down on a log of 'booming' as the car goes down the road, but I don't want to add much more weight to an already heavy car.
