Shame the exhaust installer didn't check that clearance to the steering linkage and fix it while everything was still out! :|

The interior update looks quite nice! I've done bucket seat covers exactly once, and I'll never do them again. I'll pay all the money they want to do that work! I'm good with the factory seats, though, but would like to eventually get to the G8 carpet, seat tracks and console.

Gene, just my opinion but if I were you I might spring for the OEM PPV carpet now while it's still available!

OP, looks good, but I'll echo what Gene said; too bad he didn't just fix it while it was out. I wasn't aware JBAs had issues with the steering shaft. Either way it sounds great and will be even better when you throw a cam in there

Also I didn't measure them but I got replacement Denso O2 sensors and the wiring is longer than OEM. Not sure it's long enough for LTs, just another thought if you have to replace them anyhow. If you do that, then you can hack up the wires, get some O2 male end plugs and make your own extensions if you want.

The headers are not JBA, they're Maximizer. Apparently Chinese knockoffs of Kooks. Kooks were out of my $ range. I wanted to get full JBA front to back but all they had in stock were the mufflers. Might be in stock now but I waited months at the time on the backorder.

Yeah, my installer wasn't too swift. When he saw that the shaft was rubbing, before bolting the shaft, he could have smacked the tube more easily. I tried today using a pry bar and mallet but it barely did anything. I'll try the air hammer with a dull rounded chisel.

Well today was a fun day. In the light of day, I saw how much of a crap job the shop did. Started with the O2 sensors and 3 out of 4 I was able to reconnect. Just had to unclip and move the wiring back for the 2 post cats and the pass side connected right up. The driver side I had to extend about 5 inches. (used the tip to connect it first from the top and drop the sensor down to screw it in) Still got my hand scratched up as if I tried to pet a feral cat.

But, I removed all the sensors to be sure all were good and pass side post cat wasn't even screwed in all the way. The threads were all mangled. All the sensors had damaged hex from using an open end wrench. And I also saw a small piece of porcelain fall out of it. Cleaned up the threads, put some anti-seize (none of them had any) and installed it. It's dead throwing 3 codes :x . Another $90 for that for a Denso from RA on the way.

Then I noticed some other things. Hangers were cock eyed as seen in one pic (didn't notice it then) and the welds look like they were done by an 8 year old.

And the icing on the cake. Since it's a rare car here, I told him I wanted to keep the original system in case I wanted to go back to stock. Instead of cutting the bolts at the flanges, he cut the pipes right next to them! Now they're practically useless to me.

I'll take some more pics and I'll write one helluva good review.

On another note, the "wife mode" plugs wouldn't go in now with the extended tips. They first came as shown but wouldn't go past half way with the packing. So I folded the packing so it only covers half of the baffle and they went in and tied it tight with steel wire. Just had to drill a hole on the bottom of the tips to screw in the cap screws I picked up. I also painted them flat black so they're not so obvious when they're in. They do work at reducing the drone and tone a bit.

Wow that guy doesn't look like he has much experience!

An 8 year old with a Sawzall would've known to cut those at the flanges.

I would light him and the service manager up big time. What a complete joke.

Definitely get some of your money back. $1300 for that job is straight highway robbery!

The only thing I could give some slack on would be encountering the steering shaft clearance, considering it's an aftermarket part. Other than that? It's a matter of removing stock components and installing replacements. I will say it's a good thing they didn't try to fix the clearance...

And forget the sawzall, use an impact or the like and send it on those bolts, not like they'll look worse. I hope you can get some resolution.

Side note, those silencers seem pretty neat.

Looks like you have the brother of the feral cat that lives in our shop!!

I recognize those cuts!! Sure would be nice if the manufacturers would spend 0.05 seconds running a bit of sandpaper over the edges of the heat shields before they put them on the vehicle. But I guess that would double the price of the heat shields!!

The last time I gave blood was under our 98 Dakota R/T trying to change out an O2 sensor. They literally assembled the truck around that sensor. The connector for it was secured to a bracket on the top of the transmission!

Here are some more pics of this guy's incompetence. Once I got under it in the light of day, I saw the ugly welds he did. He took an exhaust system that was supposed to be beautiful and made it ugly. I don't know what he used to weld it but even I can weld better than that with my stick welder on regular steel. totally butchered it. I wanted to make this into a quasi show car. I don't know how I'll be able to fix this.

I wrote a scathing Google review on this asshat with pics as proof so he can't deny it.

This is where the pipe and muffler flanges were mismatched and were welded. Can you tell which is an original weld and which is his?

He extended the rear pipes an inch. Haven't heard of anybody else that had to do this on adapted SS pipes. Maybe didn't think to just move the mufflers back an inch.
