Not sure if this helps or not, but I know that Filezilla defaults to binary mode if you are using SSH/SCP (encrypted; usually port 22). Most folks don't run an un-encrypted FTP server these days, it's dangerous to do so...

We tried for a little while last night and the pics still show as glitched. Going to have to draw back & punt on this one possibly...

Another little update on #17b....

Robert's put the original backup files up for me on the site (that were used to move us over from the former server) into a RAR archive and I've sent all the info. over to the developer on what's going on with the pics. Just waiting on Rob (our developer and the PHPbb guy!) to give me a read. If the archived pic files themselves are glitched this could explain a great many things, hoping this is not the case...

3/31/14 - Update #18

I'm still having an unanticipated configuration issue with the system wanting to moderate new user's first and second posts. I just went in and approved several posts from new users, and to combat this and hopefully eliminate the problem I made a configuration change in the system. I'll continue to watch the moderator's menu to see if any others pop up, but please rest assured this was a system glitch, not a concious effort to regulate traffic. Hopefully the problem is now resolved.... my apologies to anyone that inadvertently had posts put on hold.

Thanks
Eric

4/1/14 - Update #19

I've received some input on changing picture settings due to folks having trouble uploading and decided to perform an experiment. I made a configuration change in the system this evening, the max file size you can upload is now 5MB (up from 256kb) per attachment with a new limit of five file attachments per forum message or private message (up from three in a forum message, one in a private message). A picture (JPG, etc..) counts as a file attachment. So, in one forum message you can now have up to 25MB worth of attachments (five files at 5mb each).

I would strongly encourage members to limit the pixel size of the pics you upload to a maximum of 1024x768 due to the simple fact that larger pictures take up so much screen space in the post, you have to use the slide controls and it generally is not a good presentation when the pic is as big as a house. I can set limits, but I'm not going to do that.... for right now...

So, let's see how this works out. Be aware I am reserving the right to go back & make adjustments if this adversely impacts the system. Enjoy!

Eric

Well, I figured out how to upload, but the pics I wanted to put up are 7+, they came off my digital camera. At least I know how now, if I use my smart phone cam, and not my digital, unless there is a way to take less pixel pics with it. I ain't that smart!

Just use a after-market image resizer program, that's all I do. I can take the largest pics and rescale them down to size since I always shoot them max size for best quality. This is what I use...

https://imageresizer.codeplex.com/

I just tell it to resize a pic to 640x480 to post here, it scales the pic down no problem and gives you a new file so your original pic is still intact. Takes 20 seconds tops.

5/2/2014 - Update #20

Just to keep you updated, our hosting provider had a system glitch a few days back with the PHP handler and was forced to do a system restore from backup. We had some brief intermittent outage periods for a few hours on Monday and Tuesday, however all is now back to normal. If anything is missing or not working correctly (except the old pics which we are STILL working on trying to restore!) please let me know.

Thanks
Eric

We had a system outage for a few hours today as a result of an issue in the remote data center our server is based at. Issue was corrected and we're up and fully running. Any glitches seen please let me know.

Thanks
Eric
