That is a ton of miles for a 2013. Wonder what it was used for?

And the bigger question is what ended up failing? Only says "blown motor". Interested to know exactly how it "blew".

Dulles Airport, VA security vehicle. No idea how they could have blown it.... maybe it was a pace car for the 777's taking off :)

I'd like to see the hour meter. I bet it's been idling 24/7 since it hit the ground.

I bought the car... and this will be my first Caprice PPV after loving my Tahoe PPV for 60K miles in 7 months!

So I guess you all will find out what happened to it!

Suggestions, thoughts or ideas?

Maybe an LS2 set up for a SC? Should be a fun DD and sleeper for TX2K16 fun!

Awesome. Yes, an LS2 or LS3 swap would be nice. I hope you got a good deal.

You could use an LS2 bottom end, but you would want to have your heads freshened up and reuse them. The LS2 heads are a step back in performance, AND your intake and other stuff won't work with them. This may help:

Yes, I think $8K for the car is a decent price considering it doesn't have holes in the roof and the interior is very clean. I will post more about the car once I have the opportunity to inspect it and get it to my brother's shop in Cumming, Ga.

So far I think the Kooks headers, full exhaust and removing the AFM/DOD with a mild cam is the first step with the rebuild. Not sure on what will happen since I do not know if their definition of a "blown motor" is a bad head gasket or a hole in a piston. I do know it has been common to have cooling system failures due to the use of the wrong type of coolants. I have a Dodge Charger Pursuit that I bought dirt cheap because their fleet service mechanic accidentally used the GM coolant in the Dodge which turns to GEL upon reaching operating temp, thus blowing all the head & water pump gaskets/seals.

When these Police departments see the bill for a replacement not covered by warranty, they dump the cars at auction. Their FAIL is my WIN!

Congrats and welcome! If you have easy/cheap access to a machine shop or a spare engine, $8K is a steal for one of these cars.

Once you get the car...it should have an hour meter in the DIC menus. Please tell us how many hours on that engine? And let us know what "blown" means! I'm very curious. 109K isn't much for a LS engine IMHO. So the root cause could predict other failure modes on these cars of the same mileage.
