Front Speakers In-Op

Post by BMase1176 »

New to the forum, so forgive me if I ask already answered questions. Recently acquired a 2012 PPV and the front speakers are in-op. Got behind the door panels since I thought the front speakers were just disconnected for police service and found that both are still connected. Was wondering if the front speakers are deactivated through the BCM like some other features and if so how do I go about re-activating them? More questions to come I'm sure...thanks in advance for any assistance.

There is an RPO code that was used to disconnect the front speakers from the radio. They are connected to the police scanner, instead. I would imagine that they can be reconnected fairly simply. I know that my car has the RPO code (thought I forget what it is), but it currently has them connected. Good luck!

hey BMase welcome to the board!

I think your solution may in the passenger foot well area. You like the rest of us I a sure have a bundle of wires over there? Some of those maybe the bypass for the speakers. See what is disconnected and see if you can match up any of the colors on the wires from these diagrams in this message:

viewtopic.php?f=21&t=157&p=6162&hilit=speakers#p6162" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think the colors you will be looking for going into a connector in that area are :
Brown
Yellow / Red
Dark Blue
Light Blue

Then you will want to find the matching wires probably sitting loose and unconnected in that bundle and somehow hook them up. Don't think they will have a connector on the end of them anymore so you may have to make due with what you can.

Thanks for the tips everyone...led me right to the fix. Got into the mass of wires under the passenger side dash, and I found this little guy bridging the two blue speaker connectors. Unplugged it and re-connected the two stock plugs and speakers came right on. Thanks again!!!

after owning/driving my PPV for 2 years I finally got up the guts to tear into the dash and get my front speakers working. I have read several posts on this saying look for the 5 feet of wire and all sorts of other things like that. I read your post today and looked under the dash and there it was in plain sight, the pigtail harness just like in your picture. took it out of the loop and now I have 4 speakers...thanks much!!! (who says you can't believe everything you read on the internet?)

Save that pigtail harness for if you ever add an amp, instant patch cord!

Oh actually looks like you would have to add about 4 wires to one side.
I got Terminals for those I can send you if you want to make it complete
