Ok, very nice. Please keep me updated. Also, what does it entail to get the rear input activated? Flashing at the dealer?

You can call it flashing... when they connect through the MDI, they can select options... like RSE (rear seat entertainment), Rear-view camera, etc...

Unfortunately, they can get Remote start to work on ones that didn't already have it...

Thanks,
Tom

I assume you meant "can't get remote start to work"?

I'll have to check with my dealer then about activating it. So hypothetically, in order to have the rear entertainment input activated, I would have the dealer activated it, then I would just need to make a wire to plug into the port you referenced on the side of the unit? Is that all?

It has been about a month since the last post. Has any one actually had any success in doing this modification?

Tom

A couple of questions if I may..

Can the radio be wired for a stereo aux input so my Sirius Radio could be used?

Would purchasing the Radio Harness from a G8 help with having the connectors for adaption of other funcions like the back up camera?

Approx how long would you estimate that it takes to pull the head unit attach the harnesses and put it back together?

Thanks in advance

Andy

Our connectors are one piece versions... you just have to add the contactors for the audio... so yes, you can... at least through the RSE audio... as far as front auxiliary goes, I haven't had the opportunity to test it out...

as far as video goes... you'll need a video connector... the port is covered by a white label... I have a few of the video connector components... it has to be "built"... check out my thread on video connector...

I haven't had the opportunity to add the additional audio contactors, but I have installed the video connector.

Tom, do you know what the differences are between 1st and 2nd designs?

No, I don't.

Most likely it's some small revisions to improve "stability"... guessing it has more to do with the control panel interfacing the unit, since they had a new part number for both the panel and unit.

Just to be safe, try to get a later version if you can...

I have a 2nd design arriving on Monday. Will take some pics. Looking at online parts catalogs, there are also different parts numbers for the top radio trim (where the vents are) depending on 1st and 2nd designs. So was thinking there was also a physical difference.
