Ground location for this wire

Post by ChucknBeans »

Sorry the subject is vague. I am working under the hood and I found what looks to be a ground of some kind wrapped in heat protection that was tucked away. Does anyone know where this gets mounted to? I just installed a set of headers last week, haven’t started the car and now I feel I might have unbolted this and can’t remember where it goes. The wiring routes from behind the alternator. Any help is appreciated.

Pretty sure that is a knock sensor. It bolts to the block under the exhaust manifolds. Near the front of the engine on the passenger side near the rear on the drivers side. Looks like you are on the drivers side so should be at the back of the block.

Install the knock sensor to engine block retaining bolt (1) and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

Another view, #6 is Knock Sensor
