Instrument Cluster Backlight

During the day, my 2012 cluster's backlighting does not come on.

The position of the headlight switch does not affect this.

At night, they're lit up with the switch in auto, park and on; but not in off.

I dimly recall this being related to the same setting that keeps the domelights from working with the door open.

Can anyone confirm this?

Seems like normal operation?? You want them to work with the switch off?

There's several times during the day it'd be nice to have them on so I can see them in the dark tunnel of the instrument cluster bezel.

For some reason I'm driving into the sun a lot.

All my other cars run them on all the time.
