What's Our Favorite Solution For SiriusXM?

Post by Z09SS »

A few days of listening to the local radio has me convinced that I need XM again.

Is there a decent solution?

99% sure when unlocked these radios have XM satellite radio. I need to get mine unlocked for Bluetooth.

Not directly. Through Bluetooth from your phone, you can stream Spotify, SXM, whatever into a White Audio unlocked box. The silver boxes don't even have GPS hardware so I would doubt they included XM hardware neither.

If you absolutely need satellite reception, the other way would be to get a standalone receiver and connect it using the aux in plug.

Great point, I doubt these cars even have the XM antenna thing. Streaming through a phone might be the best or only option.

Figured I'd chime in, 14+ cars ALL have hardware for SiriusXM (same "silverbox" as Volt, Malibu, etc), 12' and 13' cars, I believe, are not capable of having XM. On the 14+ cars, it is disabled from the factory. WAMS is the easiest route if you want it enabled.

Edit: 2014+ cars have the hardware, but some got XM antennas and some didn't.
