The SS factory subs sound pretty darn good to me with the XMS400D amp. You aren't going to turn any heads with the amount of bass, but for everyday listening on your drive to and from work they sound great. You definitely need the rear door speakers running for mid/high range to compliment the subs.

Alternately, the subs and amp could easily be upgraded. The benefit of the SS subs is that the plastic shroud and mounting lines up perfectly on the caprice. No need to make custom mounts or have a sub and amp in the trunk. Every thing looks stock. If you don't care about seeing or having a sub in the trunk, then you could go all out and install a large amp and subs....TONS of space back there.

For me, I wanted a clean factory interior and trunk.
